A PROMOTER’S LETTER
On staging Madama Butterfly with care—and why AMI brings this story to the world
There is a moment before the first note when a theater seems to hold its breath: the audience settles, the pit grows still, and the curtain becomes a promise. It is in that charged hush that Puccini’s Madama Butterfly speaks most clearly—tender, devastating, and unmistakably human. With this production, we invite you into a world shaped by lyric beauty and hard truths, where love and longing are carried not by spectacle, but by the sincerity of the telling.
AMI – Arte Management International exists to serve that sincerity. As promoter, our task is both practical and artistic: to assemble the right collaborators, secure the conditions that allow excellence, and protect the integrity of the work from first rehearsal to final bow. We believe opera flourishes when every detail is treated as part of the music—casting, language, pacing, design, and the quiet discipline of craftsmanship backstage.
Madama Butterfly demands particular responsibility. It asks us to listen closely—to the score, to the cultural tensions embedded in the drama, and to the emotional vulnerability at its center. Our approach favors clarity over exaggeration, intimacy over noise, and a theatrical line that lets the voices and orchestra carry the weight. In doing so, we aim to honor audiences who know this masterpiece well, and to welcome those encountering it for the first time.
If you join us for this performance, you are part of what makes opera endure: a community that values live art, shared attention, and stories sung without shortcuts. We are grateful for your presence, and proud to present this production as both an event and a testament to the work behind it.
Thank you for listening with us—may the evening stay with you long after the curtain falls.
